Amy Holmes – Legal Secretary

Amy joined the Carlisle office as a business administration apprentice in 2016 and became a secretary in 2018.

Development opportunities exist within the firm and Amy testifies to it.

After working as a secretary in transmission, Amy continued to build on her experience and develop her skills within the department.

In 2021, becoming a transfer of ownership intern was a natural step for Amy.

Amy said, “I love working with the Bendles team. It’s a good environment and I love the work I do and the people I work with. It’s always a very busy and sometimes difficult office, especially last year, but it is also very rewarding to know that you are helping people move up the property ladder.

Charlotte Graham – Senior Real Estate Paralegal

Charlotte Graham joined Bendles Solicitors in May 2021 as a senior real estate paralegal in the agriculture and commercial department.

Based in the Carlisle office, she works closely with Heads of Real Estate, providing legal advice and assistance to clients in the residential, commercial, agricultural and general real estate areas.

Charlotte has been working as a paralegal for three years and is also studying for a Bachelor of Laws degree (Honors) at the Open University, part-time outside of work.

She is currently in her penultimate year – year five of six.

Charlotte said: “My job is different every day. I am currently working with a mix of property types (residential, commercial and agricultural) to help our residential team navigate the hectic market right now.

“I like to accompany clients on their journey through a real estate transaction, it can be an extremely stressful process. I particularly enjoy working with farm property and farm clients, coming from a third generation farming family in Cumbria, farm property interests me a lot.

Ryan Palmer – Residential Transfer Paralegal

Another new paralegal on the Bendles team is Ryan Palmer, who is originally from Scotland but has lived in Carlisle for eight years.

Ryan started at the firm in June 2021 and obtained his Masters in Law from the University of Central Lancashire.

Also based out of the Carlisle office, Ryan’s work is primarily in the area of ​​home transfer, liaising with clients and updating them on their sale or purchase. Sending of contract packs to buyers and preparation of files to be completed.

Ryan said, “I really wanted to gain practical experience in a legal practice to kickstart my legal career. I would like to get a training contract qualifying me as a notary in the future.

“I really enjoy helping people buy their first home and walking them through the biggest investment they are likely to make. Bendles is a great place to work because everyone is friendly and approachable.

Jack Hannah – Litigation Paralegal

Jack joins the Bendles team directly from the University of Northumbria, where he studied law as part of a four-year integrated master’s degree.

While in college, Jack was part of the law student office, which gave him valuable experience in a legal workplace.

Insight into how a lawyer works has fueled his passion for the law and he is thrilled to have secured a role in the Bendles Litigation team.

Jack is excited about his new role and added, “I have loved my time at Bendles so far.

“Everyone is very welcoming, easy to talk to and always has a smile on their face no matter how many questions I ask! I am eager to learn and am excited about the development opportunities at Bendles.

Jack was born and raised in Cumbria. He lived in Newcastle during his time in college, but it didn’t feel like home, so he came back with the idea of ​​staying in Carlisle for the long haul.
