Alberto De Feo is no longer associated with the municipality, announces the district in a press release in one line

The former highest-paid employee in the Lake Country District is out.

The district announced in a one-line press release on Friday, July 2, that the former administrative director Alberto De Feo is no longer associated with the municipality.

“The Lake Country District takes this opportunity to announce that the former Deputy General Manager Alberto De Feo is no longer employed by the district,” the statement said.

Mayor James Baker declined to discuss the matter on legal grounds as it is a personnel matter.

In a September 2020 Lake Country Calendar story, De Feo made $ 227,000 in 2019, the only staff member to earn more than $ 200,000 (he had nearly $ 11,000 in expenses), and also announced that he ‘he was retiring.

Tanya Garost has been appointed Executive Director effective April 1, 2021.

De Feo joined the District in 2009. Prior to that, he had a long and distinguished career in municipal government serving several communities in British Columbia. He received a long-standing public service award from the Association of Municipal Administrators in 2013.

De Feo shared his experience in municipal administration teaching at the University of Prince George’s Northern BC
