DITO says subscribers are now over 9 million

MANILA — DITO Telecommunity said on Friday it now has more than 9 million subscribers, a significant jump from its 1 million achievement in June last year.

DITO is launching its services in March 2021. It is currently preparing its 3rd year technical audit scheduled for July, it said in a statement.

“Reaching step by step, DITO is once again preparing for the annual government audit and is confident of reaching 70% of the country’s population shortly before July 2022, which will finally allow it to compete against the two former MNOs of the country in terms of presence,” said DITO’s administrative director, Adel Tamano.

Currently, the third telecommunications operator has extended its network coverage to more than 540 cities and municipalities across the country.

He said he erected nearly 5,000 cell towers, built more than 100 data centers and laid more than 30,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable to connect the archipelago.

“We at DITO are serious about our commitments to weaving Filipino communities using the DITO connectivity brand and we will go the extra mile to deliver,” Tamano emphasized.

DITO’s chief technology officer, Rodolfo Santiago, said earlier that the telecommunications company was only a few hundred people away from meeting its third-year commitment to cover 70% of the population by July.
