HSJ Press Release: Chief Justice Seeks Public Comment on Judicial Candidates

HONOLULU — Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald announced today that he is seeking public comment on judicial nominees for two vacancies in the Third Circuit Family Court (Island of Hawaii) and one vacated in the Fifth Circuit District Court, (Island of Kauai).

The names submitted for these vacancies by the Judicial Selection Commission, in alphabetical order for each island, are:

THIRD CIRCUIT (Island of Hawaii)

Mark D Disher

Mr. Disher is currently employed as an Assistant Society Counsel in the Hawaii County Society Council office. He graduated from William S. Richardson Law School at the University of Hawaii and was called to the Hawaii State Bar in 2008.

Brandon K. Flores

Mr. Flores is currently employed as Assistant Administrator, Child Support Enforcement Agency at the Ministry of the Attorney General. He graduated from William S. Richardson Law School at the University of Hawaii and was called to the Hawaii State Bar in 1996.

Jill M. Hasegawa

Ms. Hasegawa is currently employed by Raymond K. Hasegawa, AAL, ALC, and serves as a per diem judge in the District and Family District Courts of the Third Circuit. She graduated from William S. Richardson Law School at the University of Hawaii and was called to the Hawaii State Bar in 2004.

William B. Heflin

Mr. Heflin is currently employed at Alcain Naniole & Heflin, LLLC. He graduated from William S. Richardson Law School at the University of Hawaii and was called to the Hawaii State Bar in 2001.

Haaheo Mr. Kahoohalahala

Ms. Kahoohalahala is currently employed as an assistant prosecutor with the Hawaii County Prosecutor’s Department. She graduated from William S. Richardson Law School at the University of Hawaii and was called to the Hawaii State Bar in 2012.

Charles E. Murray, III

Mr. Murray is currently employed as an assistant prosecutor with the Hawaii County Prosecutor’s Department. He graduated from Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University and was called to the Hawaii State Bar in 2015.

Joanna E. Sokolow

Ms. Sokolow is currently employed at Sokolow & Gibson, LLP, and serves as a per diem judge in the Third Circuit Family District Court. She graduated from Georgetown University Law Center and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 2006.

FIFTH CIRCUIT (Island of Kauai)

Lisa R. Arin

Ms. Arin currently works at the law firm of Lisa R. Arin, Inc. She graduated from Western State University College of Law and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 2010.

Brandon K. Flores

Mr. Flores is currently employed as Assistant Administrator, Child Support Enforcement Agency at the Ministry of the Attorney General. He graduated from William S. Richardson Law School at the University of Hawaii and was called to the Hawaii State Bar in 1996.

Russell KMK Goo

Mr. Goo is currently employed as a Deputy Attorney General in the Ministry of the Attorney General. He graduated from McGeorge Law School at the University of the Pacific and was called to the Hawaii State Bar in 1998.

Simeona LLA Mariano

Ms. Mariano is currently employed as an Assistant Attorney General in the Ministry of the Attorney General. She graduated from William S. Richardson Law School at the University of Hawaii and was called to the Hawaii State Bar in 2004.

Gregory H. Meyers

Mr. Meyers is currently employed at Meyers & Meyers, LLC. He graduated from George Washington University Law School and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 2002.

Keola A. Siu

Mr. Siu is currently employed as a Senior Assistant District Attorney at the Kauai County District Attorney’s Department. He graduated from Seattle University School of Law and was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar in 2004.

The Chief Judge has the discretion to assign judges to the district or district family court schedule. Comments on the qualifications and character of any of the applicants regarding any of the schedule assignments may be sent, in writing, to:
