Cafes for working remotely in Raleigh and Durham

If you’re like us and don’t have an office – or want to get away from your home or office, we’ve got a few places you should try.

1. Off-peak coffee

The shop has a comfy green velvet sofa, where you can munch on some of the best avocado toast in town – thanks in large part to the pickled onions on top – and drink a matcha latte.

  • Choose from a handful of other latte flavors, sit outside and enjoy the weather.

2. Black and white at the Videri chocolate factory

Serve excellent coffee award-winning baristas Kyle Ramage and Lem Butler, Black & White Coffee’s downtown location is a great place to get things done.

  • He also happens to be connected to one of the best chocolatiers in the world.

To note : Located in the Warehouse District, you can grab your coffee for a stroll through most downtown areas or hang out on its large outdoor courtyard.

  • Black & White also has free parking.

3. The Durham Hotel

The Durham Hotel’s Cafe Bar – located in the hotel’s 1960s-inspired lobby – has become one of the city’s most popular places for business meetings.

  • Plus, you can wait and grab an after-work drink at the hotel’s rooftop bar that overlooks the city center.

Heads up: The cafe closes at 2 p.m.

4. The Optimist

Nestled in the historic Oakwood neighborhood of Raleigh, The Optimist is one of Raleigh’s coziest cafes. It has outdoor seating in the front and a sunny patio in the back, as well as parking.

Heads up: It gets crowded, so you might have to wait a bit if you’re ready to post at a booth.

5. Cafe Jubala

Jubala is Lucille’s favorite place for a coffee-meeting. Located off Hillsborough near NC State, this cafe is packed with professionals and students. Plus, they serve cookies made from scratch and there’s plenty of seating on the patio.

Jubala has two other locations, in North Hills and North Raleigh.

Lucille’s must-have order: Chilli and Egg Biscuit
