Hillary Gardee’s body was found in a timber plantation.
The ANC’s chief whip of the Mpumalanga legislature, Fidel Mlombo, has said the arrest of an employee in his office in connection with the murder of Hillary Gardee is “very regrettable”.
“As an office and ANC we are totally against and distance ourselves from the act of killing innocent people.
“We have confidence in the laws of this country, that there will be a successful investigation and prosecution of the perpetrators and that those found guilty of this heinous crime will be put behind bars and taken off the streets for the safety of our society,” says Mlombo.

The ANC chief whip’s office in Mpumalanga issued a statement on Monday condemning “the senseless murder of Hillary”.
The person who was arrested cannot be named until he appears before the Mbombela court of first instance with two other people.
They face charges of murder, rape, possession of a firearm and ammunition without a license and conspiracy to commit murder.
Gardee, 28, was the daughter of former EFF general secretary Godrich Gardee.
She was reported missing two weeks ago and her body was found on Tuesday with a gunshot wound to the head.
