BJP workers clashed with police as they marched to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) headquarters here to protest the bogus vaccination racket in the city. Workers and Saffron Party leaders staged rallies at the BJP state headquarters and Hind Cinema despite police refusing to allow the programs.
Several senior BJP leaders and workers were arrested by police on their way to the KMC office.
BJP head of state Dilip Ghosh claimed the TMC government was trying to “silence” the alleged link between Debanjan Deb, the alleged mastermind of the bogus vaccination racket, and several ruling party leaders and bosses of the KMC, and the saffron party had organized the demonstration to expose this “link”.
“When the TMC was in opposition, they ran programs without any authorization. And now if we want to organize a political event, we are prevented from doing so,” he said.
